New England manuscript recipe book, [ca. 1860]-[1900].

Manuscript recipe book containing mainly recipes for baked goods and desserts (puddings, cakes, and pies). There are recipes from the Old World (rice coquettes and snow pudding), as well as favorites from the nascent American cuisine, including chow chow, Delmonico and cranberry puddings, Thanksgiving cake, and corn muffins. Later additions to the cookbook, some laid in, often include the recipe's source and date. Includes an index to the earlier recipes. Acquired as part of the Sallie Bingham Center for Women's History and Culture. (02-013).
